The Myth of Origins series serves as an imaginary reclamation of a mythical and surreal birthright that transcends geography. It suggests ways we can reveal to ourselves the imprint of our evolutionary nomadism. I combine a symbolic vocabulary including scientific genetic mapping, biblical and tribal forms, as metaphor for the fusion of my Franco-Algerian heritage, Spanish descendancy, and extended wanderings in Africa, South America and the UK. The vibrancy of the paintings is celebratory yet uncomfortable, asking the viewer to question the nature of his or her own internal chequered atlas.
